Additional support is necessary to use with the included slats in your conversion kit. You can use any of the following options: box spring (7"), low profile box spring (4") or bunkie board (2"). The mattress cannot go directly on the slats.
Very few cheap boards for support. My 50lb son and his 30lb brother laid on bed and we heard cracking.
Had to go to Home Depot and buy my own wood.
