How to choose the right baby blanket
For newborns, stay with swaddles and lightweight muslin. The AAP recommends no loose blankets in the crib until around 12 months, so save heavier knit throws for stroller rides, car seat covers (over the buckles, never under), nursery floor time, and post-bath wind-downs. Care
Most blankets here are machine-washable on cold with a tumble-dry-low finish. Wash a new swaddle once before the first use to soften the weave and remove any milling residue.
