Made in the USA | Where is baby gear made?
Now more than ever, families are looking to purchase "Made in the USA" baby gear and nursery furniture. But what car seats and strollers are actually made here? Short answer: none. Longer answer: while most baby gear is manufactured overseas, some products are assembled in the U.S. using globally sourced components. In either case, costs are rising.
The major reason why baby gear prices are rising is due to increased tariffs on imported goods. Tariffs add extra costs for brands that manufacture or source parts internationally, and unfortunately, those costs are passed down to consumers. While supporting American-assembled products can help, it’s important to understand that truly 100% U.S.-made baby gear is virtually nonexistent, and global sourcing is the norm for most major brands today.
Let's take a look at where specific baby gear and brands are made:
Car Seats

Right now, there are virtually no car seats that are fully made in the USA. Most car seats, even from American-based brands, are either manufactured overseas or assembled in the U.S. using globally sourced parts. This is mainly due to tariffs, labor costs, and strict regulatory requirements that make full U.S. production very difficult and expensive.
Some brands do get close, though. For example, Britax assembles many of their car seats at their factory in South Carolina, although many of the parts are still imported. Clek, a Canadian brand, manufactures their seats in North America (Canada specifically), offering a level of quality control and proximity that appeals to parents wanting something closer to home. Dorel Juvenile, the parent company of Maxi-Cosi and Safety 1st, also has a factory in Indiana where some assembly happens, but again, the parts are globally sourced. In short, if someone is asking for a truly 100% made-in-America car seat — from design to parts to assembly — none currently exist.
A majority of car seats on the U.S. market are manufactured in China. Here are the car seat brands carried at Bambi Baby which have some or all models manufactured in China:

- Bugaboo products are manufactured in their own factory in Xiamen, China, allowing them to maintain strict control over quality, environmental practices, and fair labor conditions. Their factory holds ISO9001, ISO14001, and SA8000 certifications, and Bugaboo actively promotes sustainability through responsible chemical management and supply chain practices. As a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, they use the HIGG index to monitor and improve their social and environmental impact.
- Cybex
- Doona
- Maxi-Cosi
-
Nuna
- Nuna products are manufactured in China in an ISO 14001 certified factory that prioritizes eco-friendly practices, including solar-powered energy, exhaust treatment, and extensive recycling programs. Nursery
When it comes to baby furniture, very few products are fully manufactured in the United States. However, it’s worth noting that much of the nursery furniture on the market today comes from regions outside of China, with many brands turning to countries known for skilled craftsmanship and higher manufacturing standards. Here’s a breakdown of where some of the most popular baby furniture brands are made:
Furniture:
- Appleseed cribs are manufactured in Vietnam.
- Dadada cribs are manufactured in Italy, while their dressers are made in China.
- Oxford Baby furniture is manufactured in Canada.
- Pali furniture is crafted in the Friuli region of northeastern Italy, where the company has been manufacturing furniture since 1919.
- Romina furniture is manufactured in Europe, specifically in Romania.
- Sorelle furniture is manufactured in Italy.
- Westwood Design furniture is made in Vietnam, Thailand and China.
Gliders and Recliners:
- Oilo and Best Chairs are two brands that manufacture their gliders in the United States. Both are known for their high quality, comfort, and wide range of fabric and style options to suit different nurseries.
- Natart furniture, while not U.S.-made, is crafted in Canada and is well-regarded for its craftsmanship and safety standards.
Crib Mattresses:
- Lullaby Earth crib mattresses are made in the USA with domestic and global materials.
- Naturepedic mattresses are also made in the United States, specifically in a GOTS-certified organic factory located near Cleveland, Ohio.
Decor:
- Lorena Canals products, including their signature washable rugs, are handmade in India.
