Bugaboo Donkey5 vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3 | Single-to-Double Stroller Comparison
The Bugaboo Donkey5 and UPPAbaby Vista V3 are two of the most versatile, high-quality strollers available today. Both offer smooth rides on all kinds of terrain, spacious storage baskets for all your essentials, and multiple configurations to adapt as your family expands—whether you’re strolling with one child, two, or even three.
While both strollers share a focus on durability and convenience, their designs differ in how they accommodate growing families. The Donkey5 is one of the only strollers that expands side by side, offering excellent weight distribution, easier access to both children, and generous legroom and recline space. It includes a bassinet, four large all-terrain wheels, and a bonus side luggage basket for added storage.
The Vista V3, on the other hand, converts to a double stroller in-line, adding a second seat over the front wheels. This setup keeps the stroller narrower and allows your child in the upper seat to sit closer to you. Its large under-seat basket, sturdy tires, and compact fold make it a go-to favorite for many parents.
Let’s take a closer look at how the Donkey5 and Vista V3 compare!

Bugaboo Donkey5: Side-by-Side Expanding Stroller

The Bugaboo Donkey5 stands out as one of the only strollers that seamlessly converts from a single to a side-by-side double. This design makes it easier to push, turn, and navigate curbs compared to traditional tandem strollers—while keeping both kids equally comfortable and within reach.
The latest Donkey5 model includes thoughtful updates that elevate both comfort and usability. A higher seat position brings your little one closer for easier interaction, while the ventilated bassinet and upgraded fabrics help keep your baby cool and cozy year-round.
Parents will also appreciate the easier fold, quick-click harness, and countless color combinations that make it simple to customize your stroller to fit your family’s style.

Bugaboo Donkey5 vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3: Weight and Height Limits
The Bugaboo Donkey5 offers equal seating for both children. When converted to a double, each seat is identical and holds up to 50 pounds, so your kids can sit in either seat comfortably—no need to worry about who goes where.
The UPPAbaby Vista V3, on the other hand, has two different seat sizes. The main Toddler Seat holds up to 50 pounds, while the RumbleSeat V3 (the second seat) has a lower weight limit of 40 pounds. This design helps balance the stroller for smoother steering and easier curb climbs.
Keep in mind that the Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat aren’t interchangeable—once your older child passes 40 pounds, they’ll need to ride in the upper seat, which places your newborn farther away toward the front of the stroller.

Bugaboo Donkey5 vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3: Configurations
Both the Bugaboo Donkey5 and UPPAbaby Vista V3 grow right alongside your family. Each can expand from a single to a double stroller, accommodating a mix of stroller seats, bassinets, or infant car seats. You can even add a ride-along board so an older sibling can hop on for the ride.
UPPAbaby Vista V3 Configurations
The Vista V3 uses a tandem design, stacking one seat higher near the handlebar and the other lower toward the front wheels. This setup keeps the stroller narrow and easy to maneuver, but it can limit legroom for taller toddlers and slightly restrict which seat combinations are possible. For example, you can’t use a bassinet on top with the RumbleSeat below—but you can use the toddler seat up top with a bassinet underneath, or even two bassinets at once for twins.

Bugaboo Donkey5 Configurations
With side-by-side seating, the Bugaboo Donkey5 gives families incredible flexibility. Each seat can face forward, face the parent, or even face opposite directions—and both can recline fully without crowding the other. This design makes it easy for parents to interact with both children at once, whether one is napping or both are taking in the sights together.

Folding the Bugaboo Donkey5 vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3
Folding the Bugaboo Donkey5 is simple and intuitive. Tilt the seat so it’s parallel to the frame, lower the handlebar, then press the black buttons on each side while lifting the white levers to fold the stroller down toward your feet.
To unfold, lift the handlebar, extend the front wheels, and raise the seat back into position—and you’re ready to stroll.

To fold the Vista V3, lock the brake and raise the handlebar to its tallest setting, making sure the toddler seat faces forward. Lift up on the grey tabs at either side of the handlebar, and lower toward your feet.
The Vista V3 automatically locks when folded and stands upright. Hinge the lock inwards and lift the handlebar up to open the stroller.

Car Seat Compatibility: Bugaboo Donkey5 vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3
The Donkey5 and Vista V3 both work with a wide range of car seats from popular brands like Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Nuna, Clek, Peg Perego, and Chicco.
The main difference is with each brand’s own car seats. UPPAbaby infant car seats attach directly to the Vista without adapters, but they cannot be used on the Donkey. Bugaboo car seats, on the other hand, require adapters to fit the Donkey5, whether you’re using it as a single (Mono adapter) or double (Duo or Twin adapter).
For other compatible brands, both strollers will need adapters for installation, and additional adapters are required if you want to attach two car seats at once.

So which is better: the Bugaboo Donkey5 or the UPPAbaby Vista V3? Only you can decide which stroller best fits your family's needs, but here are the benefits and drawbacks we see:

Single-to-Double Stroller FAQ
Can the Bugaboo Donkey5 and UPPAbaby Vista V3 convert from a single to a double stroller?
Yes! Both the Bugaboo Donkey5 and UPPAbaby Vista V3 are designed to grow with your family. They can expand from a single stroller to a double with the addition of a second seat, bassinet, or ride-along board.
What configurations are available when converting to a double?
The Donkey5 converts side-by-side, giving both children full recline options and equal legroom. The Vista V3 converts tandem-style, with the upper seat closer to the handlebar and the lower RumbleSeat near the front wheels. Certain setups, like bassinet over RumbleSeat, are not possible due to seat spacing.
Can I mix infant car seats with the double configuration?
Yes, both strollers allow car seat use with adapters. The Donkey5 requires adapters for all car seats, while the Vista V3 attaches UPPAbaby car seats directly. For other brands on the Vista, adapters are needed.
Are there weight or height limitations to consider when converting to a double?
For the Donkey5, each seat holds up to 50 lbs, giving equal flexibility for your children. On the Vista V3, the upper Toddler Seat holds 50 lbs, while the lower RumbleSeat has a 40 lb limit to ensure easier steering and safety.
Which stroller is better for twins or siblings of different ages?
The Donkey5 is ideal for twins or children of similar ages thanks to side-by-side seating. The Vista V3 works well for siblings of different ages, as the upper seat accommodates a larger child and the lower RumbleSeat is perfect for a newborn or smaller toddler.
Can I still access storage when using both seats?
Yes! Both strollers keep generous storage space, though the Donkey’s signature side luggage basket is unavailable in double mode. On the Vista, the lower front seat can slightly limit access to the under-seat basket when fully loaded, but the basket still offers more storage than the Donkey’s lower compartment.
