Manufacturer discounted our complaint that they produced plywood side rails in this conversion kit, for a crib that is solid oak. For the price point, solid oak could easily have been used for the entire kit. You can find 1x10- 8 ft solid oak boards for ~50 dollars at any home improvement store. That's $100 or less for the side rails for a non-wholesale purchaser. Add the slats for another 35-50$ and some paint and brackets for $25... leaving your cost of production at $175 plus minimal labor. At the price point, thats still nearly a $200 profit margin on each kit for a non-corporate entity. So why did Nest need to use plywood? For a $300 profit margin? Very dissappointed in this Canadian manufacturer. I'll build this kit myself for 190 bucks less.
