- Excellent quality but scratches easily Review by Zobot's Mom
We purchased this crib & furniture set a little over a year ago for our first child. I had read some reviews on another website stating that the wood was very soft and it scratched easily, but since I LOVED the style of this set I dismissed those concerns, thinking "we'll just be really careful not to scratch it and it will be ok". That was one of the dumbest thoughts ever to cross my mind! Whether you're a sleep-deprived new parent or a teething one-year-old, there's no such thing as "being really careful" with furniture. The front of our crib and also top edge of the dresser/changing pad were banged & scratched up within the first few weeks from our belt buckles/waistband buttons (there's almost no way to pick the baby up out of the crib or change their diaper without coming in contact with, and potentially scratching, the furniture). And one year later the inside of the crib is all chewed up with little teeth marks!
Aside from the scratching issue, we were actually quite pleased with this furniture. The quality of construction is excellent; it's probably the best in our house (most of our other furniture is from Bassett or other manufacturers in that price range). Some assembly was required but it was straightforward. Adjusting the height of the crib is very easy.
We purchased the conversion rails so the crib can be used as a full-sized bed once our daughter is older. I'm sure the furniture itself will still be in good condition (it will probably last forever), except for the scratching issue. We'll continue to use it at least until she's out of the destructive toddler/little kid phase, but I think the furniture may look too banged up to use through her teenage years. We'll have to see.
We had a great experience with Bambi Baby and would recommend them to others. (We live in TN and ordered online.)
Overall, we have been quite happy with this furniture - except for the scratches. If that doesn't bother you much, then buy a good wood touchup kit and you're good to go! Personally, though, I don't know if I would purchase this again. It's too expensive to scratch so easily.
